Statement

A Argentina native, born to Latin-American immigrants and based in New York, Nadia Bautista is a queer Latin-American visual artist .

The diaspora marked Bautista upbringing, vision and artistry, her identity is not defined as purely argentinian but rather wholly Latin. This perspective is fundamental to her focus as a photographer, her work depicts the effects of colonialism and the identity on different socio-cultural strata within diasporic queer communities.

Bautista addresses different triggers that are part of her life, such as dissidence, queerness, raciality, gender, generations and relationships.

Each of these issues are intrinsically linked and she tries to present them as a necessary paradigm shift today. Generating more spaces for identities that have been marginalized for a long time.

Reflecting on this hegemony allows us to rethink a new possible world where inclussion is the base of the construction.
